And Then Comes Marriage | Rhode Island Photography

South Side American Little League.  That was where Tara and I first met.  We were, gosh, ten years old maybe?  Little young things learning to play softball.  Her dad was an ump, mine was occasionally as well (and I am pretty sure I got very mad at both of them more than once ;) )   We ended up going to different lower schools but were in high school together and then went separate ways after high school ended.  Then, like so many other people these days, the wonderful world of Facebook connected us again a few years ago.  When my husband and I went down to Key West for vacation in January we hooked up again – the first time we had seen each other in many years!  While we were down there, Tara introduced us to Renzo – her fiance.  I mentioned off hand that I would totally shoot their wedding for them and a plan was born!

And what a wedding it was!!!  Tara and Renzo got married at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, where we are both originally from.  It was a day full of laughter, smiles and a few tears from an emotional bride and groom.  It included an elephant (in fact, the same one that I used to get ride on when I was a little girl visiting the zoo with my family!), wild and crazy dancing including the Cupid Shuffle and some hot Latin dancing, readings and blessings in both English and Spanish to honor both Tara’s family and Renzo’s family in from Peru and lots and lots and lots of laughing.  From Renzo walking in to “Somebody’s Getting Married” from the Muppets to the inventive first dance, it was an afternoon and evening to remember and the beginning of what I am sure is going to be a wonderful marriage.  :)

Congratulations, Tara and Renzo, much love to you both!!!

Love | Rhode Island Photography

I apologize for the break in blogging here.  We moved to our new house and, as anyone who has moved can tell you, things have been CRAZY.  I came back from a wonderful long weekend in Syracuse and dove right into the packing, moving and unpacking.  Things are starting to settle down more, my office is starting to come into view, it’s becoming slightly easier to find clothes, toiletries and the like, things are becoming more normal…

When I was in Syracuse I had the opportunity to do two things out of my “normal” realm of photography – a couples session and a wedding.  Both involved high school friends and both got married that same Saturday.  First up – the couples session.   I met up with Becky and Kate on a pretty overcast but still nice Thursday evening since I was not going to be able to shoot their wedding for them.  We went to a local park to do some shots just for the two of them to have.  Although I didn’t get the gorgeous sunset glow that I was hoping for when we set the time, I still love how they turned out  :)

Jessica and Sean – Married! | Rhode Island Photography

What can I say about last weekend’s wedding?  How about stunning, perfect, amazing, wonderful?  Sean and Jessica had a dream wedding.  The lawn of the Commandant’s house in Boston.  Reception under a tent designed by the amazing Abby Gray of Olivia Browning in the theme of all things Boston marathon (perfect for two marathon runners!).  Gorgeous flowers.  Perfect Red Sox /  (not-as-perfect) Yankees cupcakes.  Awesome music.

Seriously a stunning, fabulous day.

Kristina and I were SO thrilled that they chose us to photograph their day.  We had so much fun with this wedding and meeting a whole new set of people and families.  We are so fortunate to do what we do and witness such incredibly personal, intimate and joyful moments.  And I have to say, seeing your super sweet, quiet, adorable, polite bride and groom turn into crazy dancing maniacs on the dance floor is also pretty cool ;)

There’s a lot.  Because I want there to be :)    Congratulations Jessica and Sean!!  I hope you had an amazing honeymoon!

(BTW one of my personal favorites along with the black and white of their first dance? Jessica’s parents giving her away.  The look on her mom’s face, the hand on her back…as a mom, I have some sense of the emotion that was there and I absolutely love it.)
