Audrey | Rhode Island Photography

I don’t know if I am even supposed to share these, technically.  But you know what, I am.  I don’t really care.  :)  Last weekend I got to go take some pictures of the gorgeous Audrey McClelland for a website that she is joining as the newest featured blogger (you’ve seen her on here before!).  The company asked for family shots and some shots of just her.  So out I went early Saturday morning and we did some lovely shots of all of the kids and her along with her husband, Matt (who is a fellow Steelers fan living in Pats country, yippee!)  With four boys under seven, I could not have ASKED for a better, easier shoot.  They were adorable and perfect.   The next evening, Matt started experiencing horrible stomach pains; he told Audrey it was like razor blades.  They took him to the ER thinking it was appendicitis or a really bad stomach bug.  After doing some tests and scans the news came back – a tumor by the colon.  He was taken into surgery the next day and the doctors removed a grapefruit sized tumor and resected part of his lower bowel and colon.  While they are still waiting for the full official biopsy reports, Audrey just said that it looks preliminarily like it is NOT cancer.  I have cried many times over this in the past week.  Matt is only 37.  With four gorgeous boys under seven and a sweet, beautiful wife.  Hearing that news from Audrey today was one of the best things I have heard in a very, very long time.  So as I said.  I’m not sure if I’m even supposed to share these.  But with this news I am too happy NOT to share.  This is such a reminder to hug your loved ones.  Tell them you love them.  Treasure every. single. moment.

Curls! | Rhode Island Child Photography

A little over 18 months ago (I think?!), I met miss O and her mom while taking a class at Bellani – it was baby gym type of class and our girls just LOVED to hang and swing and play together.  Her mom and I hit it off and she eventually became my hair dresser (she owns the *awesome* Wish Salon on the East Side).  We kept talking about a photo session for her daughter and this past weekend we made it happen.  She had seen a photo on the blog from a session I did in Philadelphia and really wanted that type of look.  Although there is nowhere here that I have seen that can quite approximate Old (cobblestoned) City Philly, we did make it work with Brown University.  It is such a beautiful campus!  She showed up with the *most* adorable outfit from Mod Mama (one of my favorite stores that I never get to go to!!) and as you can see, O was an absolute doll.  The hair, those curls (I mean seriously, those *curls!!*), that huge infectious smile.  Such a fun, fun time!!

Saturday Morning | Rhode Island Family Photography

I had a really difficult time narrowing down what to show from this session.  You see, it was kind of a dream session for me.  One where the family really didn’t want anything posed.  They wanted photos of them just being a family in one of their favorite places, and I have had very few sessions where families say that.   You see, we live in New England and we are famous for traditional portraits.  And that is awesome, really it is – I never mind doing those photos at all!  But when a family says we don’t want anything perfect, we just want something that shows us – ah, that will put me in my happy place every time.  So we did exactly that.  I met the P family (with Oliver the bulldog) at Beavertail Park in Jamestown for some family photos on Saturday morning.  Thankfully we are having a *great* stretch of weather here – sunny and 55 in November – so all of us romped around, racing, dancing on stages, climbing, singing, being silly and eating grass (okay, that last part was the dog).

There are extra photos in here.  Usually sneaks are four, but today there are seven.  And I could have shown more except for the fact that I am only human and can’t edit *that* quickly and have other work as well.  But this gives you an idea.  Look at these photos and tell me you do not feel the happiness and love emanating from them.

:)

P. family it was SO great meeting you!!  I’ll be in touch in a few days  :)
