Five under Five | Massachusetts Family and Newborn Photography

Yep.  Five under five.  You read that right.  Five beautiful, adorable, huggable girls, all under five years old.   To be specific – five years old, three and a half, two years old and 10 days old!!!  I was so excited when K. contacted me to do their newborn session because I knew it was going to be a challenge.  I’ve done newborn twins and I’ve done families with three kids.  But I’ve never done a family with both.

You’d think with those ages and newborn twins that the house would be a wild crazy place but I got to their house and was immediately SO impressed with how smoothly and wonderfully it was “run.”  Run isn’t the right word but you know what I mean.  The big sisters were adorable, mom and dad were so relaxed and everyone was just so happy and so sweet.  And on top of it all, there was just SO much love in that house.  You could just see it in the way everyone interacted with each other, talked to each other and played together.  It was incredible!  (I also want to mention they have the best toy room.  Possibly EVER.)  In fact, I came home and told Matt that as a mom of five with two newborns K. had it much more pulled together than I do with just two!!   I had a really delightful time with all of them.  We sang lots of songs (Rudolph was a favorite) and the girls even offered to share their snack with me.  A great way to start my Friday morning!!  So without further ado, meet babies I. and J. and big sisters M., S., and A. in just a few of my favorites that I’ve edited so far!

Long-Distance Family | Rhode Island Family Photography

The C. family drove all the way from New York for their session with me this past week.  No pressure or anything, really!!!  I think it’s the farthest I have had someone come – when I was in PA someone drove 90 minutes.  But these guys braved 95 through Connecticut.  And anyone that has driven that knows how lovely it can be.  But come they did, and with two absolutely beautiful little girls for me to photograph. When we were planning their shoot they said they wanted to use the RISD area since that is where they both went to school which thrilled me because I was itching for some urban!  They took me all over the RISD and Brown University areas of the city (boy did I get my workout!!!!) and we got some great shots before watching the sun set over the city as we walked down the hill back to our cars.  I had such a great time with them, little E. and C. were just great troopers and so cute.  It was great to see how much E. loves her little sister and how much love, even after a 2 hour car ride, they had for each other.  (And it was also great to see another set of siblings with completely different eye colors!)  E. and W. it was great to finally meet you guys!  Enjoy your photos and your precious little girls :)

Originally I set up to capture just little C. but when I saw mom’s expression I knew I had to get it in there.  What resulted is a top ten favorite moment ever.

Borderland with B. | Massachusetts Family Photography

I met up with the beautiful little B. and her family for the completion of her session up at Borderland park on Sunday afternoon – we lost the light a little too quickly the first time around last week!   She did a great job for the second time in six days – totally adorable, totally happy.  Big bright blue eyes and the cutest little haircut!!  There was dancing, there was singing, there was even a bit of headbanging, grunting and roaring.  She was just SO pretty in her little outfits with the barrettes and the shoes – made me excited for when Layne gets a little bit bigger :)   And when mom smiles and when dad laughs, it totally lights up wherever they are.  Even in the shot below where they are out of focus you can still see just how happy their little girl makes them and how genuine joy looks.  J. and V. it was great working with you guys (again).  I had the best time playing with B. and running around making a fool of myself to get the shots  :)   Enjoy!!

The End of Philly | Philadelphia Family Photography

After a weekend much needed to relax and catch up on work and family, I am back at it!

I ended my weekend in Philly with one of my closest friends in photography – the lovely Bernadette Uzcategui of BU Photography.  You have seen her and her family on here a few times now.  Her son is just absolutely darling and I adore him with all my heart.  He adores me equally.  Although he likes to call me Jamie.  I forgive him for that though.

I love shooting Bernadette and her family because, well for one the pressure is off.  And I get to have more fun and be more liberal in my editing.  But mainly it’s because there is just so much love there.  I have told them before that the two of them (she and her husband) have this closeness that not many couples have.  Remember when you were first in love, when you first got engaged or when you were newlyweds?  Remember the feeling you would get when you caught each other’s eye or touched each other’s hand?  These guys still have it after 11 years (it’s either 11 or 13 I am blanking at the moment) of being together and 6 years of marriage.  There is a love they feel for each other, a closeness and silliness and intimate relationship, you just see it when you watch them.  And to watch them with little E. (and their dog, Kia who has been with them forever) it becomes even more apparent and takes on whole new shades.  They are this perfect little nucleus of a family.  We should all be so lucky :)
