Ten (minus three) on Tuesday | Rhode Island Family Photography

1.  Over 800 votes already in the nursery contest!  WOW.  Only three days into the voting, too.  Voting will continue through Saturday at midnight (11:59 to be specific) so keep those votes coming.  Make sure to tell friends and family, facebook friends, twitter friends, etc.  Everyone only gets one vote so have fun and spread the word!!

2.  The second Get Manual Workshop is this weekend and I am excited!  I had so much fun the first time, now I am only hoping that I can remember everything that I talked about the first time around!

3.  We have taken a big step forward in our house – Nolan has graduated to a big boy bike.  Lightning McQueen all the way, of course.  I can’t believe my boy is getting so big already!  It’s pretty bittersweet…

4.  I have officially planned trips to Pittsburgh and North Carolina this month so if you are interested in photos for either location, contact me.  I have super special (read: well-discounted) travel packages available.  I am also looking at Philadelphia at the end of April and then North Carolina again end of June and possibly Chicago in July!  Woohoo!  I love love love the idea of traveling for sessions.

5.  March Madness is almost upon us!!  That combined with the fact that my team just happens to be Syracuse (yeah for a probable #1 seed!!!!!!) means that I am thinking up a fabulous March Madness of my own for the business.  What it will be I am not quite sure yet but I have a week to figure it out.

6.  I just booked another newborn for April and I am really excited.  I seriously LOVE newborns.  If I could I would specialize in just them but in Rhode Island, well, there just aren’t that many people having babies!

7. If you are thinking about spring / summer sessions remember to book for a month in advance of when you need the pictures to take into account time for editing, proofing, ordering and lab delivery!

That’s it for this week :)  I am still recovering from a pretty nasty cold so my brain cannot put together a list ten things long!

Nursery Contest VOTING!! | Rhode Island Baby Photographer

Wow!!!!  I received TWELVE awesome entries for the nursery contest – I am so thrilled!  They were all so cute and I am so excited that all of them entered that I decided to go ahead and post ALL of them here for voting!!  Below you will see the twelve choices.  I tried very hard to pick just the two best photos of each nursery and chose to leave the babies faces out of them (or block them out) since some images also feature names. Each one is numbered 1-12 and after the last nursery there is a poll in which you can choose your winner.

The winning nursery family will receive a complimentary session focusing on the baby and nursery, one 8×10 image and (2) 5×7 images from their session as well as 20% off of any additional purchases.  There is also a second place prize of $100 print credit and a 3rd place prize of a $50 gift card to Bellani Maternity.

A few ground rules:

  • You are only allowed to vote one time
  • You are allowed to tell as many people as you like, advertise it as you like, etc.  Please do NOT make any disparaging remarks about the other nurseries.  If I find out that any such thing has occurred the parties responsible will be removed from the contest
  • Voting ends on March 13th at midnight
  • Winners will be announced on March 15th

After you’ve voted here, go check out and vote in some of the other contests that the other participating photographers are having on their blogs – there were some SUPER cute nurseries out there across the country!!!!

Under the Weather | Rhode Island Photography

So the joy of having two children is that they find all of the germs that are out there and bring them home.  As a result I have caught whatever crud both of the kiddos have been sharing for a few days now.  So I am taking it very easy and slow.  If I owe you something in the mail I am trying to get out tomorrow.  If I owe you an email it will come when I can sit at my computer for more than two minutes.  Until then I am crawling back under my covers.   See you on the other side:)

Gorgeous Miss L | Rhode Island Baby Photography

If you follow my work, you probably remember THIS sweetie-pie newborn from a few months ago

Well this is what the gorgeous Miss L. is looking like nowadays – five and a half months later!!

I got to spend Saturday morning with her and her parents.  I had very specific ideas of what look I wanted for these photos before I even went into the session — I knew mom and dad’s bedroom had a basic white duvet cover with a beautiful wall color and I wanted to keep the pictures very simple, hence the minimalist approach (and no clothes!)  We did the majority of the photos in their room and then a few in her gorgeous nursery.

This is just a *wonderful* age to photograph.  Babies are old enough to sit up on their own (some times longer than other times:)) and are SO attentive to the world around them.  They aren’t yet afraid of the giant camera, they don’t have stranger anxiety and are SO expressive.  Next to newborns, this phase is my absolute favorite!!!   And Miss L was just a dream to work with.  So unbelievably cute – I  could have stayed there snuggling her all morning:)
