What to Wear Thursday | Providence Photography

When people ask about clothes, I’ll often give them my thoughts and then send them to a paint website.  Yup, that’s right.  A paint website.  The reason for this is that most sites (I use behr.com) offer the option to pick a color and then they will give you coordinating color looks.  This is a GREAT way to pick colors for outfits!  If you know one color you like, you can pick others from a swatch and go from there.  So that is what I did this week.  I knew I wanted to step away from the brown 🙂 so I went with one of the hot fall colors – purple.  I didn’t want to do black because it was too dark for what I wanted, so I ended up with grey.  I think of grey and cable knit and I think of soft and fuzzy.  Then it just took scrolling through some swatches until I found what I wanted – that extra little pop of color in there, which ended up being green.  The three colors actually work really well together, even though you don’t think at first glance they would.  They all complement each other very nicely.

So today I have almost all clothes from Boden again.  Love them!  (Dad’s jeans are from Gap though.)  First we have the pop of color on mom’s shoes, along with a nice structured jacket to give her shape and hide flaws in the waist/hip area.  For dad, a shirt that features bolder green stripes with an indigo/purple secondary stripe.  Nice dark jeans and black shoes.  Then for big girl, a funky look.  A dress layered over a striped long sleeve tee (again, you have both the purple and green) with footless grey leggings (pulling grey from the tee) and then I’d finish with ballet flats.  And for baby girl, a nice little jumper with a layered tee and thick purple tights.  For the girl I’d either do simple little mary janes or funky black rain boots.

This would normally be where I put my what to wear guide suggestions.  Unfortunately we have had a death in our extended “family” – my sister’s best friend who was like a member of our own family.  I will do the what to wear as soon at some point, but my heart is not in it right now.  So stay tuned, but probably not today.

When I first knew that we were moving to Rhode Island for Matt’s fellowship, I went ahead and networked and set up several advance sessions for the area.  The C. family was one of my first takers for a session – one of the first to take a chance on a total stranger :).  I met up with them again this past weekend for some new photos of A. and S.  They took me to the gooorgeous World War I Memorial Park in N Attleboro for the photos and I just fell in love!  (Seriously, I am bringing my kids there later this week or next to do their photos!!)  And old ski lift/j-bar, old buildings, nice trees, some gorgeous park areas, benches, rocks, a waterfall – just so pretty.  And A. and S. were perfectly adorable.  Six months after their first session for me and it was like no time had passed.  I find that there are some clients I fall into a very easy rapport with – the C family definitely fits the bill.  It could be because our children are so close to each other in age, but it could just be that they are cool. 😉  And notice that this time, both mom and dad got into the pictures!  Aren’t they just a beautiful family??

I wanted to give you all a “dates available” update.  They are quickly dwindling all of a sudden!  As a reminder, I will not be taking any holiday sessions after December 1.  You are welcome to schedule a family session for after that point but prints from any sessions after December 1 will not be ready in time for holidays. Newborn sessions may be scheduled for any day up through December 13.  No sessions will be accepted after December 13.

So.  Between now and December 1 I have only the following dates remaining:

  • Saturday, October 31
  • Sunday, November 1 (still reserved for mini sessions if you wish)
  • Saturday, November 14
  • Sunday, November 15
  • Saturday, November 21
  • Sunday, November 22
