The C. family drove all the way from New York for their session with me this past week.  No pressure or anything, really!!!  I think it’s the farthest I have had someone come – when I was in PA someone drove 90 minutes.  But these guys braved 95 through Connecticut.  And anyone that has driven that knows how lovely it can be.  But come they did, and with two absolutely beautiful little girls for me to photograph. When we were planning their shoot they said they wanted to use the RISD area since that is where they both went to school which thrilled me because I was itching for some urban!  They took me all over the RISD and Brown University areas of the city (boy did I get my workout!!!!) and we got some great shots before watching the sun set over the city as we walked down the hill back to our cars.  I had such a great time with them, little E. and C. were just great troopers and so cute.  It was great to see how much E. loves her little sister and how much love, even after a 2 hour car ride, they had for each other.  (And it was also great to see another set of siblings with completely different eye colors!)  E. and W. it was great to finally meet you guys!  Enjoy your photos and your precious little girls 🙂

Originally I set up to capture just little C. but when I saw mom’s expression I knew I had to get it in there.  What resulted is a top ten favorite moment ever.

John and Melissa – Married!!

So once again, I must admit that I was wrong.  That I really really loved shooting something I wasn’t sure ahead of time that I would love.

You may recall back in August I shot John and Melissa’s engagement session with my friend Kristina from Kristina Young Photography and fell in love with shooting engagements.  This past weekend, the two of us got together again and headed off to Boston and shoot their gorgeous evening wedding!  They got ready at the stunning Taj Hotel, married Saturday evening at the beautiful chapel at Old South Church in Boston and then had a reception at the gloriously chic and sexy Mistral restaurant.   (I’d tell you what part of Boston all of those were in but I honestly have no clue.  Back Bay?  Beacon?  Yep.  No idea.)  It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony followed by an awesome crazy party reception.  😉  Kristina and I had so much fun working together and the evening flowed like a dream.  (Big kudos to Mistral for a completely flawless reception!)  There were a few tears, lots of laughter, surprise trumpeters, an ovation from people outside the church and tons of great music and dancing just to name a few things.  Overall it was a beautiful, wonderful day.

Since I am not used to blogging weddings I am going to stop talking now (I know!  Unbelievable, right?!?!!) and just show you the pictures. (and make sure to check out K’s as well when they’re up HERE)

So without further ado…John and Melissa’s wedding, just a *few* of my favorites

They had gorgeous flowers – calla lilies all over the place!

Amy is buried right now.  I am off to shoot a wedding in Boston today and will be incommunicado except for my iphone on breaks today and tomorrow.  If you emailed me, I assure you I received it.  If you are waiting for proofs, orders, etc, I assure you I am working on it.  Things to be mailed (Philly sessions) go out Monday morning.  Emails will be returned as soon as I can.  Between holidays, family visiting, extra sessions and general life I am working my way through everything as quickly as I can.  Please have patience with me 🙂  Thanks.

I love family sessions.  I love them even more when it’s a previous client family’s family (follow that?).  The aunt of the adorable twelve weeker I featured earlier this week contacted me for a session for her family and with a last minute cancellation from another client, I got to go out to their place in Hingham for an afternoon-into-evening shoot this past weekend. Big brother B and big sister S were both napping when I got there but that meant I had time alone with this cutie pie to start – sweet little baby R. all of five weeks old and perfectly adorable.  (Think – that means two grandchildren for this family within eight weeks AND sisters pregnant at the same time – how awesome is that!)  I mean look at this – usually I pose newborns and infants a bit but he did this all himself.

Seriously, SO precious.  After a little while big brother B. and big sister S. woke up and came down to join the family.  What followed was climbing on rocks, playing on a swingset, racing cars down slides, kicking around a soccer ball.  It was so much fun!!  Even Calvin, their golden got into the mix with us.  Poor guy didn’t understand that I couldn’t throw his duck toy while I was taking photos though so I’m not sure he was my biggest fan.

Meet big brother, B., four.  Totally close to my heart as he is just about two months younger than my son.  And totally the same likes.  It proves that boys at four have universal likes – cars, Lightning McQueen, superheroes.  And he had the most delicious laugh.  This was the start of it.  Pure, true laughter.  Love it.

And big sister S., almost 2.  Although she didn’t give me a ton of smiles she did throw a few my way and was all sorts of comfortable with me when I was leaving 🙂  But the serious portraits are nice too – look at those eyes!!  She was just so beautiful.  Heck, the whole family was!

Thanks for letting me into your lives, guys.  It was such a joy to spend time with all of you 🙂

Every once in a while I stop and think, WOW.  I’m married.  With kids.  And my friends are, too.  And this weekend really cemented it for me.  Wayyyy long ago, I went to Syracuse University. I am scared to think that it was 10 years ago that I *graduated* college. Eeek. But when I was there, I was in the marching band (no football jokes, please, that was the Donovan McNabb era when we were actually GOOD) as a member of the colorguard. I was one of the flag spinners. To this day I really don’t know how I got in – I had never even held a flag. But my friends were in and they got me in.  And I got free front row tickets to football games.  That’s all that counted.  While I was in the guard I met wonderful people and became very close with several of them. One friend, Lynette was one of my best friends – Lynette, our friend Lara, and I were thick as thieves for a while there 🙂  I even have a picture of the three of us that I would love to replicate with our kids.  Because now, ten years later, we are all married.  Lynette, who I used to get ready for parties with, who I suffered through early Saturday morning run throughs with, who I discussed big life and death issues relating to (what else) boys with, she came to visit me from CT.  With HER husband.  And HER child.  We are all grown up now…

And her daughter, S. is just beautiful.  Absolutely completely beautiful.  Almost 10 months old, big blue eyes, gorgeous hair that Layne was jealous of (seriously, she kept trying to pull it and touch the barrette, someday she’ll have enough hair for a barrette as well) and SO so happy.  She kept doing this thing during the shoot where she would scrunch her face up and flap her arms up and down when she was happy.  And she did it a LOT.  Too bad the camera doesn’t capture video for me as well because it was just too cute.

It was so SO great to see Lynette for the first time in, we think, somewhere around 10 years.  While it’s a little sad to realize that we are truly grown up and will never go back to the days of Woodchuck cider, pulling all nighters and going out on a Thursday (Thursday – can you imagine?!?!!), it is even better to see the people we have become.  The adults.  The wives.  The mothers.   And to see the beautiful families that we have created with our husbands and children.  It makes it all come full circle in a way.  And it’s wonderful.
