I had a session this morning with one of my favorite families. But this time it was a different session in that Lynn just wanted some nice quiet photos with her younger daughter, G., 15 months. We both know all too well, having older kids, that these moments when they are little are just SO fleeting and SO precious. And she wanted to capture them. When she first contacted me for the session we were worried that perhaps G., being 15 months old, would be just too curious about me, but that was not the case at all. And I got to do a session that I can already tell I absolutely adore. I love the emotion and the love in these two – they jumped out at me as I was looking quickly through the files.
I love seeing the completion of families. It is so special and so wonderful to photograph a maternity and then go back and see a brand new family of three, or four (or seven). You may remember a few weeks ago that I shot the absolutely stunning and glowing Allison Alexander and her husband, Craig, as they awaited the birth of their baby girl. Well last week baby P arrived healthy and absolutely *perfect*. I got to go meet her this past Tuesday at only four days of age (okay, technically she turned five days old in the middle of our session). She was a dream baby to work with, slept the entire time, never cried except at the end when she was done with me and she let me move her around and snuggle her as much as I wanted. ::love:: And why yes, I did sneak extra snuggles – have to get my newborn fix when I can. 🙂 Alli and Craig are so absolutely in love with her and it was so amazing to see the three of them as a family. I know that they have been wanting this for a while now and to have it, well, it was just about perfect. Congratulations again, guys, I’ll be in touch soon. In the meantime I hope these tide you (and the grandparents!) over!
Daddy love and absolutely beautiful mama
Remember this shot?
After 🙂
Love the back wrinkles!!
Love love love this series
Okay, so if I had planned better I would have done this on actual DAYS rather than all in one post. But between regular holiday craziness, extra sessions squeezed in and Layne’s upcoming birthday that just wasn’t going to happen. So instead it’s all here together. (A collective YAY!!) And if I had been more accurate, it would have been the top 12. But I just couldn’t cut it down. So my top 13 favorite images from 2009. This is not a countdown because I don’t think that I could narrow it down to an order, but these are my top choices 🙂
#13 Loved these boys. Loved this image. So, so sweet 🙂 (And as a side note, it got me a large editorial photo in The Baby Guide. Can’t complain!!)
#12 Perfection all curled up. The lighting, the cocoon, everything.
#11 This was taken during my shoot for my What to Wear guide. But the moment and the light make it one of my absolute favorites.
#10 You know I’m all about the moments. I love this one. So much that I wanted to put my family’s faces on it and use it for MY holiday photo.
#9 How could I not pick this one?!?!! The colors are what made this photo for me. Not only a gorgeous baby belly but in a gorgeous surrounding.
#8 Pure happiness 🙂
#7 Pure love. On both parts.
#6 I usually am not a fan of awake newborns. But L. totally rocked it 😉 Love how adorable she looks here, like she’s checking out the world.
#5 This just makes me feel good. Not only because it reminds me of my trip to the Outer Banks and my photog girls, but a family moment captured and in such a stunning location.
#4 I wonder when I see this if people think I put A into this pose. It was a completely spontaneous moment and he happened to put his hand up as I was snapping the photo. What resulted is one of my most favorite family moments.
#3 Do I really need to say anything?? 🙂
#2 More pure happiness! W family made it twice!!!
#1 I want to keep a big giant print of this next to my desk. So whenever I feel down in any way, I can look at it and smile. Her look, her expression, everything just totally make this.
That’s it for this year. I can’t WAIT for a whole new year to choose from!!!!!!
Yep. Five under five. You read that right. Five beautiful, adorable, huggable girls, all under five years old. To be specific – five years old, three and a half, two years old and 10 days old!!! I was so excited when K. contacted me to do their newborn session because I knew it was going to be a challenge. I’ve done newborn twins and I’ve done families with three kids. But I’ve never done a family with both.
You’d think with those ages and newborn twins that the house would be a wild crazy place but I got to their house and was immediately SO impressed with how smoothly and wonderfully it was “run.” Run isn’t the right word but you know what I mean. The big sisters were adorable, mom and dad were so relaxed and everyone was just so happy and so sweet. And on top of it all, there was just SO much love in that house. You could just see it in the way everyone interacted with each other, talked to each other and played together. It was incredible! (I also want to mention they have the best toy room. Possibly EVER.) In fact, I came home and told Matt that as a mom of five with two newborns K. had it much more pulled together than I do with just two!! I had a really delightful time with all of them. We sang lots of songs (Rudolph was a favorite) and the girls even offered to share their snack with me. A great way to start my Friday morning!! So without further ado, meet babies I. and J. and big sisters M., S., and A. in just a few of my favorites that I’ve edited so far!
Shhhh…she didn’t know I was taking the picture. My favorite kind of shot. True and honest moments of emotion. 😀
Love love love love every single thing about this picture. Love.
