Providence Urban Family Photography

 My second family photography session during my day of Urban Mini Shoots in downtown Providence  is a family I’ve worked with a few times now.  The first time was during mom’s maternity session with the younger sister, and then again at her newborn session and then last year for some family photography for holiday photos.  I love when clients return over time and use me for their family photography  sessions- it is such an honor to get to photograph them at different points and watch their families grow!!!  This year  our sessions was wonderful – we walked around a bit down by the Providence River and spent some time over at the railing with the city in the background.  And again, I used the bridges.  What can I say?  I love bridges.  I also have a family shot from this session that I LOVE but that will have to wait until after the holidays to share as I don’t have permission from mom yet 😉  S. & A. were delights to photograph and I fell in love with S’s wrinkly nose smile!!  And big sister, well she is just growing and growing – such a beauty with those blue eyes <3  Even mom and dad got in on some solo shot action – yes, again I made them kiss.  I love love LOVE the shot of them in black and white with the tall buildings behind them!!  Side note – if you come to do family photography with me, be prepared to kiss everyone.  I love kisses!!  Here are a few sneak peeks from our session together – enjoy!

Beautiful Fall Providence Family Session

A few weekends ago, this beautiful family came into downtown Providence for their fall photos.  I was running a day of Urban Mini Shoots as I tend to do each year, and they were my first family of the afternoon.  We  got to walk a little bit further than I normally do during my sessions.  Because of that I captured some beautiful images in other areas I don’t get to use that often!  One of my favorite parts of photographing in downtown Providence are the bridges since not only are you on a bridge in the middle of a city, which is just cool, you can often have the sights of the city around and behind your subjects.  Being the night after a Waterfire we even got to see some of the Gondolas being steered during our session (check it out, you can book your own gondola ride – they even sing!).  K &M were fabulous as always and I got so many wonderful images of them both individually and together.  That’s something I love to do at all of my sessions!   We even took some time to do images of just mom and dad which I think is SO important.  🙂 Since the family has already received their images I am sharing some of them here, too!

Gorgeous Downtown Providence Couples Session | Amy Ro Photography

Two weeks ago, Dan and Lorrie met me for a gorgeous couples session in Downtown Providence.  Back in July I held a giveaway to celebrate my tenth wedding anniversary.  I wanted to give a couples session away to one other couple also celebrating ten years of marriage this year – no kids, no family, just a married couple likely more than deserving of a few pictures of JUST THEM.  I had a bunch of entrants for it –  some funny, some sweet, all wonderful.  In the end I literally ended up picking the winners out of a hat because I simply could not decide after narrowing it down to a handful of contenders!!  And Dan and Lorrie were my winning couple.   I honestly believe that I was meant to photograph them, and they even said something to that effect to me a few days afterwards.  Parents of one (I am sure) adorable little girl, they had not been out on a date forever other than a recent short trip for their actual anniversary.  Like so many others of us, they are caught up in the everyday of being parents and I think had probably forgotten a bit to still be husband and wife (It happens SO easily, doesn’t it – I know with three kids it sure does here!)   So that Saturday night we spent about an hour together focusing on just them.  Their relationship, their love for each other, their connection.  I love love LOVE what we captured and hope they will as well.  Here are a few sneak peeks from our session together – enjoy!

Lauren – 33 weeks | Rhode Island Maternity Photography

I bookended my Saturday with maternity sessions 🙂  Saturday evening I headed out to Massachusetts for Lauren’s session with her family.  I first met Lauren and her family a few years ago – her sister in law is one of our good friends and Lauren and her husband received a gift certificate from them as a baby gift.  That resulted in these images:Newborn collage of lifestyle family shot on bed and baby alone

 

Fast forward to three years later and Lauren is pregnant again – but this time with a little girl!!  So I headed back out to do a gorgeous sunset session with them in their backyard.  We had amazing, stunning, perfect light to work with as well as an amazing family and I absolutely LOVE the colors and emotions in the session.  Big-brother-to-be Kyle was an absolute DOLL!  In fact for the first five or ten minutes of the session he brought out HIS little camera and followed me around taking photos as I took photos. 🙂 Loved it!!  He is so excited to be a big brother and you can just tell the entire family is so excited for their new little girl to arrive.  I know I can’t wait to meet her!!!!

Amy and Missi | Rhode Island Photography

Every year I get a few requests for weddings.  I pretty much always turn them down because I do not consider myself to be a wedding photographer (nor do I want to be).  And to get me interested in one, it would have to be something very different or very special in some kind of a way.  Amy and Missi were just that.  They contacted me last August and asked if I shot weddings.  They explained that they were getting married on Cape Cod in September of 2012 and wanted to know if I would be interested in shooting the wedding because they loved my style of work.    Amy was the sister of a previous client so I already had some familiarity with the family, and Amy and Missi being able to get married is something that I hold very close to my heart.  I don’t get political on here (though if you knew me in real life you’d know I am very opinionated!) but I very very strongly believe that any two adults who are in love with each other should have the right to marry each other.  So off we went to plan their wedding photos!

The wedding took place two weeks ago starting in gorgeous Provincetown and then the ceremony and reception were held in the unbelievably beautiful Truro Vineyards.  Although the weather was iffy that morning it ended up being a stunning, sunny, warm Cape day with perfect weather for a wedding.  We started with a ride around the city to one location they had requested for some photos of just the two of them.  (I think this might have been my favorite part because it was just me and them, no one else.  Plus I got to shoot from a moving pedicab.  Pretty cool.)  After that we went back to their inn and hopped on a trolley with family to attempt some photos at Race Point Beach.  Unfortunately it was just *too* too bright for truly great photos but we did manage to get a few in.  Then it was off to the vineyard for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.  While there were no traditional bridal parties or cake cutting, they had some wonderful special touches to their wedding, such as Amy’s father walking them both down the aisle, having their rings tied on a necklace around their daughter’s neck, a homemade cork (literally wine corks) board for notes, and the champagne flutes for everyone to join in a toast at the end of the ceremony.  So many things that made it special and truly them.  It was a wonderful day and I am so honored that I got to be a part of it.  🙂
