When mom first contacted me about doing this session I’ll admit I was excited.  Ten and eight year old brothers.  I do some older kids, but not too many; the bread and butter of my business are the newborns and the little ones.  But ten and eight?  Whole new world for me!  I am not even sure what ten and eight years old IS yet – my son just turned 6!  All I know so far is Diego, legos, Epic Mickey and Penguins of Madagascar.  Okay so *maybe* I was worried a teeny bit…  See — that communication and relationship between a photographer and their subject is really key.  If they don’t like you, it is just not going to work!

Thankfully, these two boys and their mom made it beyond easy for me!!  We met on the campus of Moses Brown where both boys attend school.  Turns out there is this absolutely gorgeous college-like campus setting right on the East Side of Providence.  (I admit, I had no idea!)  But being on their home turf, they were definitely a little more relaxed (until they saw someone they knew! ;)), plus they knew some cool spots – always helpful!  Although it was definitely different not having to sing Elmo’s World or quack like a duck, they were truly delightful.  They were goofy and adorable and serious – all things to look forward to when my own boy reaches that age.  🙂  SO without further ado since I know mom is really excited to see these, meet the K brothers.

It was so great spending the afternoon with you guys, I’ll be in touch soon!!

Just about a year ago, J&J contacted me to setup a maternity and newborn session for them.  Little did I know their session would become possibly my favorite newborn session EVER.   The image below is hanging as a 20×30 canvas in my office and is probably one of my best known newborn images.  LOVE.

So earlier this fall, they contacted me to do a session with them again, this time a family session for their eight month old.  No more teeny newborn but still absolutely a gorgeous baby and family.  We met up on a Sunday evening and sweet baby girl did not disappoint.  Lots of smiles and SO many wonderful expressions.  It was so wonderful to see how she had grown…I hear mom has quite the plans for her first birthday and knowing her, I don’t doubt it.  🙂  It was SO great to see you guys again; she is still as absolutely perfect as she was when we first met!!!

This image started a an outtake but I love it so much, especially the more I look at it.  🙂  Totally going in their gallery.

When I first moved to Rhode Island a little over two years ago, I started holding my Get Manual class.  One of the first times I held the class, this gorgeous blond showed up with her camera and her notebook.  And she had a baby in the house!!   And I made sure that Matt didn’t see how gorgeous and put together she was with a little baby in the house. (Just kidding.  Kind of.)  But she was a total sweetheart and since the class was really small that time, all of us really hit it off.  She and another mom and I all kept in touch mainly through Twitter and then just being moms all involved in various forms of digital media in Rhode Island.  While I am still trying to figure all of that digital media stuff out, Joanna has it down with her blogsite BabyGatorsDen.com and being super active on Twitter.  She is amazing – two kids and a husband, a new house, a dog and still doing it all!  When she told me she wanted me to do her newborn session I was thrilled!!   So over I went when baby S was all of six days old.  A full head of hair, chubby cheeks, she was just adorable.  And big brother was also as cute as could be and did such a good job with his new baby sister!  I had so much fun at their session.  I am still not sure how I got out without any University of Florida gear being involved but maybe she’s saving it for the next shoot.  😉

This blog post is bigger than normal.  Mainly because I just kept saying “Oh but I love that one!  Oh and that one!”  I don’t think anyone really minds though…

Joanna and family she is absolutely precious and you guys make such a perfect, adorable family!!  Congratulations again!!!

My last session last week found me catching up with a family I just adore.  I first met them last year when I did a crazy back-to-back-to-back session day for them and two other families.  Loved these guys!!  The kids were just too cute and in 10 months, they haven’t changed a bit!  Except gotten bigger.  Much, much bigger.  We kept it really simple – around their house and yard.  So often we (families and I) try to do fun, different, cool locations.  And sometimes the house is really the best.  The kids are comfortable and happy and mom and dad are more relaxed.  We had a great time being super silly – including me sporting a sparkly pink Aurora tiara for a good portion of the shoot.  😉  Grandma was in town visiting so we even included her in some shots – three gorgeous generations!!  Enjoy P family – it was so great seeing you again!!

And just because I literally gasped when I saw it – check out dad’s AMAZING wine cellar (which I very happily took pictures of for him)!!!  I could live quite happily curled up in one of those boxes!

My second newborn session was with the beautiful, teeny tiny Mia.  You might remember Mia’s mommy’s maternity session, particularly this shot:

Well, she decided to come a few weeks earlier than originally planned – but it worked out perfectly.  At under six pounds she was definitely a small one but had no problem making herself heard loud and clear.  🙂  You’d think an early baby would sleep better but it’s not always the case.  Once she settled down, however, we got some gorgeous shots of her.  And I love love love the family shots.  Look how small she looks in her dad’s hands  ::melt my heart::  Congratulations, R family, she is perfect, N is an adorable big brother and you guys are a gorgeous family!!
