Oh How He’s Grown | Rhode Island Family Photography

My boy.  Today was the last day of Kindergarten for him.  As he tells me “I’m now a first grader.”  I, meantime, am trying to figure out where the year went.  It feels like just yesterday I took his first day of Kindergarten picture…  Sigh.  My big, big boy.

When S contacted me to do photos of her children in her cousin’s garden, I admit, I pictured taking photos in someone’s backyard.  I loved the idea of family photos in somewhere special to them but I had no idea what I was getting myself into.  In a separate email a few days later, she sent me the link to the “garden.”  Um, yeah.  This was no backyard.  Started about 40 years ago, this has transformed from a cottage garden to rooms of gardens – I believe over an acre!  When I got to the site on Saturday evening, my jaw literally dropped at how stunning it was.  And the family I was shooting to go along with the gardens?  Adorable!!  With a four and a two year old it was the perfect place for family photos!  The kids (and parents!) were just wonderful and did such a great job throughout.  We explored all over and got so many wonderful images with amazing backgrounds.  I normally share at least one black and white image in my sneak peeks, but I simply adore all of the color in these photos.  🙂  Enjoy your sneak peek, guys!!Little Compton garden, sakonnet garden, pink flowersBeautiful family photo in gardenPortrait of a boy sitting on a benchKids kissing dad, family in front of flowersBrother and sister sibling picture in garden

For those curious about the garden or for gardeners out there wanting more information, their website is www.sakonnetgarden.com.  They are having their first open house on June 2 so if you are in the Little Compton area, definitely stop by, it is really something to behold!!  Please realize however, that this is a private property not open to the public normally.

When we moved to Rhode Island three years ago this June, the W. family was the very first shoot that I did.  I had come up two weekends prior to moving but they were my first as-a-resident shoot.  I remember very vividly that at our first shoot, my camera stopped working and i didn’t have my backup and I was *mortified*.  But they rolled with it, we met up again a week or so later and I had such a fun time.  If you’ve followed me for long enough, you might remember their shoot (seen HERE)  If you don’t, (re)meet the W family.  They are getting set to move to a new place in a different part of town and mom wanted to get some quick shots of the family just being a family there – some memories especially for big sister C who is having (understandably) a slightly harder time leaving the place she has known and loved.  Both of the children were home births as well so it’s a bit bittersweet for everyone to be leaving, literally, the home the children were born in.  We spent about an hour on Saturday morning getting some quick images of them all over the house in some favorite spots.  I love these.  And I am SO excited to see the new house and their next chapter!Family photo on a bedImage of mom with her daughtersPortrait of a little girl reading in her roomBeautiful black and white portrait of a little girlLittle girl on a porch swingBlack and white image of sisters sitting on stairs

Are you a returning client who  has wanted to do some new photos but not wanted a full session? Maybe you just want to document some quick moments in your lives – that amazing 6-12 month happy baby period, or those last moments as a family of three before you have a baby, or maybe some quick shots for Father’s Day or a birthday? Or even, as we get closer, shots for holiday cards for those super planners of you? 😉  If so, yesterday through my newsletter and on my Facebook page, I introduced the perfect session for you.

Meet the “Little Ro Session” (yes, I played on Little Rhody, I am clever like that 😉 ). The Little Ro is perfect for those “in-between” moments in your lives. A mini session that includes five files with the option to add on the rest. And the best part? Huge savings on digital file pricing with this session. There are restrictions on this session (including minimum age and session location) so please take note of those.  It is only open to returning clients and in a very limited format (12 slots, three already gone) so I would advise not waiting if you are interested in booking!

If you would like to book a spot, email me!  September 16 is already completely booked as is one spot on June 17th.

This gorgeous girl and her mama met me for some photos this past week downtown.  Little O. was just so stinking cute.  I seriously want to go buy some outfits I’ve had my eye on and take her around the city to model for me.  Is she not one of the most gorgeous little girls you’ve ever seen??  And she had this really special bond with her mommy that just absolutely shines in the photos; I so loved watching the two of them interact.  We had fun dancing to Lady Gaga and making wonderful fools of ourselves right in the middle of downtown.  😉  But it was all worth it!Beautiful african american toddler outdoorsMixed race mother and daughter photoToddler girl in white furry dressMommy and daughter shotsMommy and daughter, caucasian and african american

It was SO great to meet you guys.  Enjoy each other – these days will go by SO quickly!!  🙂
