I love family sessions. I love them even more when it’s a previous client family’s family (follow that?). The aunt of the adorable twelve weeker I featured earlier this week contacted me for a session for her family and with a last minute cancellation from another client, I got to go out to their place in Hingham for an afternoon-into-evening shoot this past weekend. Big brother B and big sister S were both napping when I got there but that meant I had time alone with this cutie pie to start – sweet little baby R. all of five weeks old and perfectly adorable. (Think – that means two grandchildren for this family within eight weeks AND sisters pregnant at the same time – how awesome is that!) I mean look at this – usually I pose newborns and infants a bit but he did this all himself.
Seriously, SO precious. After a little while big brother B. and big sister S. woke up and came down to join the family. What followed was climbing on rocks, playing on a swingset, racing cars down slides, kicking around a soccer ball. It was so much fun!! Even Calvin, their golden got into the mix with us. Poor guy didn’t understand that I couldn’t throw his duck toy while I was taking photos though so I’m not sure he was my biggest fan.
Meet big brother, B., four. Totally close to my heart as he is just about two months younger than my son. And totally the same likes. It proves that boys at four have universal likes – cars, Lightning McQueen, superheroes. And he had the most delicious laugh. This was the start of it. Pure, true laughter. Love it.
And big sister S., almost 2. Although she didn’t give me a ton of smiles she did throw a few my way and was all sorts of comfortable with me when I was leaving 🙂 But the serious portraits are nice too – look at those eyes!! She was just so beautiful. Heck, the whole family was!
Thanks for letting me into your lives, guys. It was such a joy to spend time with all of you 🙂
My last session for Saturday was the gorgeous H. family. Seriously, they are just all pretty, pretty people. I last saw them two years ago when A. and L. were three and one and now they have grown into these beautiful little girls. All baby is gone 🙂 It was so great to see them again and reconnect with the family. This time mom and dad even got into the action which made for some phenomenal shots. The light was yummy, the clothes were bright and colorful, the girls were delightful, all in all a really really great last shoot.
By the way, the first two shots rank among my favorite shots. EVER. Seriously. Some shots just make you smile – both of these just make me incredibly happy to look at. In fact I dare you (triple dog dare you! Christmas Story, anyone?) to look at the first and not crack a smile and to look at the second and not feel the motion, the light, everything.
I love this because it is TOTALLY sisters. 🙂
Isn’t mom beautiful?? Dad’s not so bad either but I wanted the concentration on mom here.
Thank you so, so much H. family. It was great to see you again. Keep those girls close – they’re going to be heartbreakers!!!
I started my Friday morning off with this little cutie and her baby sister in downtown Providence. Though M took some time to warm up to me (and to warm up in general – it was chilly!!) I got SUCH adorable looks from her. Here is a little peek at what I am working on…a little sass for your Saturday morning 🙂
I realized when editing these photos that I have now had three “C.” families each with three kids for my past three sessions. They say things happen in threes, right?? I guess this is living proof of it! I met my most recent C. family at Roger Williams Park last night for some family photos in the beautiful evening light. This was a little more nerve-wracking however, because mom is also a photographer. It’s always harder to shoot for another photographer – it’s like the pressure doubles for some reason!! Thankfully I had nothing to worry about. It went great – three gorgeous kids, gorgeous mom and dad, gorgeous surroundings, really how could it go wrong??? W., C. and A. did definitely give me a challenge as any three siblings will but after working on it for a while, singing plenty of silly songs, dancing, all of my normal tricks, I managed to coax some smiles out of them. Some of my favorites…
“If You’re Happy and you Know It” can work wonders! (By the way, K, no swaps needed!!)
Check out the eyes. All three kids had the most beautiful eyes!
