Cora – 15 Days | Rhode Island Newborn Photography

When Cora’s parents contacted me for a newborn session, they said they wanted mainly lifestyle shots and not as much the cute hats and such. I was more than glad to make that happen. You know me, there is nothing I love more than capturing that love and relationship between a family and their newborn – this was the perfect opportunity to do just that. So when I pulled up to their house last week, I left the beanbag in the car. And I had a GREAT time. There is this look of wonder that parents get with their newborns when I ask them to hold them. Usually, until that point, if they hold their newborn it’s because they are feeding them, or burping them, or soothing them. But sometimes when I have them just stop and hold them and look at them, it’s magical. 🙂 They were so cute with Cora, you could tell just how much they loved her – they were constantly nuzzling her, touching her, kissing her, tickling her toes – lots of those magical moments. We even got some great shots with their first two furbabies as well that I have included. (Because who can resist a cute dog image??) We did do a few portraits of just Cora on her own but mainly it was those special family moment that I so love.

Meredith Head Shots | Rhode Island Photography

I met up with the lovely Meredith last week for some headshots for her website that she is working on. Meredith has her own internet marketing business and works with several businesses around Rhode Island (including mine now, so yay for some exciting changes!!) We are doing two sets of shots, this first date was in Wayland Square, an area that has some personal importance to her. Now, if you’ve seen my head shots before, I do NOT do sitting on a stool smiling in front of some charcoal colored seamless paper. I love natural, in the moment, professional shots. Get a person in their natural environment and you’re golden. You can turn out beautiful, grown up, modern shots for websites, brochures, anything!! Meredith was a natural in front of the camera (and her super chic outfit didn’t hurt!!) We sort of possibly froze our fingers off, but it was so worth it. 🙂

Jackson – 25 days | Rhode Island Newborn Photography

Originally, Jackson’s mom and I had great plans for his newborn shoot. We were going to get right in there around 6 days old and just have a ball. Instead the poor little guy had some health problems that delayed his session a few weeks. But you know what? It was STILL a ball! He was the most adorable, sweetest, quietest, most content baby I have ever shot around that age. He gave us some great awake time, and then after all of the family shots, fell asleep and let me work with just him. We captured some absolutely beautiful images in their nursery – are you not totally in love with that color scheme?!? On a side note, I was chatting with a friend afterwards who said that I should look at opening a studio space. But this right here, this session, this is why I am not (and probably could never be) a studio person. As a studio photographer, I could never get shots like what I have here – shots of a new family, in the home and room that they have made and brought their little love to. I wouldn’t trade what I do and how I do it for the world. 🙂

JD – 16 Days | Rhode Island Newborn Photography

Oh sweet, sweet JD. He made my heart melt with the cute head of hair, his sleepiness and then his wide-awake cuteness towards the end. 🙂 And mom, although I have “known” her online in a local group of moms for probably over a year now, we finally got to meet the day of the session! Not only is she an absolute sweetheart, she was clearly very much in love with her little guy!! Dad wasn’t home for the shoot, so hopefully he’ll enjoy these sneak peek photos, I know mom has been patiently waiting almost a week now!
