And Then Comes Marriage | Rhode Island Photography

South Side American Little League.  That was where Tara and I first met.  We were, gosh, ten years old maybe?  Little young things learning to play softball.  Her dad was an ump, mine was occasionally as well (and I am pretty sure I got very mad at both of them more than once 😉 )   We ended up going to different lower schools but were in high school together and then went separate ways after high school ended.  Then, like so many other people these days, the wonderful world of Facebook connected us again a few years ago.  When my husband and I went down to Key West for vacation in January we hooked up again – the first time we had seen each other in many years!  While we were down there, Tara introduced us to Renzo – her fiance.  I mentioned off hand that I would totally shoot their wedding for them and a plan was born!

And what a wedding it was!!!  Tara and Renzo got married at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, where we are both originally from.  It was a day full of laughter, smiles and a few tears from an emotional bride and groom.  It included an elephant (in fact, the same one that I used to get ride on when I was a little girl visiting the zoo with my family!), wild and crazy dancing including the Cupid Shuffle and some hot Latin dancing, readings and blessings in both English and Spanish to honor both Tara’s family and Renzo’s family in from Peru and lots and lots and lots of laughing.  From Renzo walking in to “Somebody’s Getting Married” from the Muppets to the inventive first dance, it was an afternoon and evening to remember and the beginning of what I am sure is going to be a wonderful marriage.  🙂

Congratulations, Tara and Renzo, much love to you both!!!

Last Friday I got to head out to my first newborn session in over a month and the first since we had moved.  Let me tell you – it was not easy.  First I had to find all of my stuff buried in the piles of boxes, bags and STUFF that fills a just-moved-into house.  Then I had to locate the battery chargers which, for some reason, had been packed separately.  Oy.  But I got it all and set off to mister M’s newborn session.  It was definitely tough to get back into the swing of shooting a newborn but luckily M and his family made it beyond easy!!!  He was absolutely wonderful in every way and big sister was not only ADORABLE with curls to die for, she clearly adored her new baby brother.  And mom and dad were wonderful to work with – so relaxed, happy and just loving being a family of four.  Congratulations, B family – it was a pleasure meeting you and he is absolutely perfect. 🙂

I apologize for the break in blogging here.  We moved to our new house and, as anyone who has moved can tell you, things have been CRAZY.  I came back from a wonderful long weekend in Syracuse and dove right into the packing, moving and unpacking.  Things are starting to settle down more, my office is starting to come into view, it’s becoming slightly easier to find clothes, toiletries and the like, things are becoming more normal…

When I was in Syracuse I had the opportunity to do two things out of my “normal” realm of photography – a couples session and a wedding.  Both involved high school friends and both got married that same Saturday.  First up – the couples session.   I met up with Becky and Kate on a pretty overcast but still nice Thursday evening since I was not going to be able to shoot their wedding for them.  We went to a local park to do some shots just for the two of them to have.  Although I didn’t get the gorgeous sunset glow that I was hoping for when we set the time, I still love how they turned out  🙂

There are some clients you just immediately hit it off with.  And when mom and baby greeted me at the door and the first thing he did was give me a huge, gummy, double-chin, drooly smile I knew I was in for it.  (Doesn’t hurt that mom is a Steelers fan.  We Steeler fans must stick together here in Patriots land.)  We had a great session and mister L was just about as perfect as perfect can be.  He gave me all sorts of facial expressions, tons of smiles, lots of drool, lots of chub – lots of everything a girl can hope for.  🙂  I was saying yesterday that I am seriously going to be depressed when I am done with this session because every photo is making me smile!!!   I was so great to meet you D family!  He is absolutely perfect (as long as you raise him to be a Steelers fan).

😉

I love this family.  That is all it comes down to.  One year to the day after their youngest was born, we met up for a family session on the beach.  You probably saw the one year cake smash session a few weeks ago on the blog. Now – the entire family.  On a gorgeous sunlit evening beach in Newport.  Perfection.
