Spring Minis Part 3 | Rhode Island Family Photography

Becky was one of my first clients here in Rhode Island two years ago.  We met on a very rainy day and did photos of her son in the walkway between the Mall and the Westin.  Glorious sounding, I know.  But we really made it work and they came out quite cute  🙂  (At least I like to tell myself that)  Then I got to watch her life go on through a message board we were both on and I would see her very occasionally at events.  This past weekend I got to meet her daughter and husband for the very first time.  So so cute!!!   The kids are just precious and the family – just perfect.  🙂

Spring Minis Part 2 | Rhode Island Family Photography

I’m late, I’m late for a very a important date!  Okay, not actually.  I’m just super late posting this in the day.  It has been so gorgeous outside that I after 12:00 when I pick my son up I am not getting any work done until night time.  But better late than never, right??  These two cuties I first photographed about 18 months ago.  My have they grown since then!!  So so gorgeous and giggly and cute.  🙂

Spring Minis Part 1 | Rhode Island Baby Photographer

I had the first day of my Spring mini sessions this past weekend.  Three gorgeous families on Saturday, and two on Sunday, both on absolutely gorgeous days!!  While my street is absolutely in full bloom everywhere you look, I struggled to find a spot in the park (which is literally right NEXT to my street!) that had flowers in it.  In the end I found this one gorgeous patch that I used.  So you might notice some similarity between the photos  😉  But at least everyone will have bright beautiful spring colors!!  LOL!  These sneak peeks are going to be smaller as the clients are only getting 10 images – don’t want to give away the farm here!

First up was one of my favorite families.  Our first session together, she was 13 weeks pregnant with this little one.  The second session was a family session back in the Fall.  Today, it was all about little sister.  A session just for her and mommy!  Perfectly timed if you ask me – one week before Mother’s Day!  Little C had just started walking – that fun, stuttering, stop and start age  🙂  Loved her!

Patience | Rhode Island Newborn Photography

I am not a patient person.  Matt has been known to call me “At Once Amy” because of this and something you will often hear me say is “Patience is a virtue……which I do not possess.”  We were very very lucky in that it was really easy for us when we decided to start a family.  But for others, it takes a bit longer.  For C. and M. it did not come quite so quickly.  They had to be patient for three long years before they got pregnant with their baby girl and she certainly made it adventurous for them!  Coming four weeks early after putting mom on bed-rest in the hospital for a few weeks, but coming out absolutely perfectly, I think she was well worth the wait.  So very well worth it.  🙂  Even though I didn’t know them before their maternity session, I am so, so thrilled for this family.  While I initially found out she had delivered through another client, I had tears in my eyes when I got the email from mom.  🙂

She is wonderful, perfect, and so so worth all of the patience you two had.  Congratulations again a million times over.

What to Wear Wednesday | Rhode Island Family Photography

I haven’t done one of these in a while, but going into a boutique last week and seeing this adorable little girl’s outfit spurred me into action!!  I absolutely LOVED this tunic and legging set and am plotting how to purchase it for my daughter.  😉  I loved both the fabric and the colors.  It’s a really light cotton and also comes in a slightly different pattern with reds and purples.  But blue and purple?  Love.  So I planned a family set around this outfit.

I pulled a simple top in a darker purple color for mom, one that will be forgiving around the waist and has some visual interest at the top to draw the eye up.  I paired that with a simple pair of linen and cotton capris and finished it off with a nice wedge sandal.  Simple colors, classically structured, nice lines.  Plus a little bit of a wedge to give more height and shape to the leg. For dad, I cannot resist a guy in a nice polo shirt and khakis.  There is just something about it!!  For family pictures I went with a slightly snazzier polo – this one has double pockets and details on the shoulder.  Then basic khakis, not too baggy, not too slim.  For shoes, eh, he’s a guy.  He can wear whatever.  LOL!  And then for the daughter, the tunic and leggings and some cute stylish sandals with a little bit of shine to them and some little decoration details.  What little girl doesn’t love sparkle and details??  Plus, because it is a gladiator style you don’t have to worry about it falling off when they are running around during the photos.
