When I first knew that we were moving to Rhode Island for Matt’s fellowship, I went ahead and networked and set up several advance sessions for the area.  The C. family was one of my first takers for a session – one of the first to take a chance on a total stranger :).  I met up with them again this past weekend for some new photos of A. and S.  They took me to the gooorgeous World War I Memorial Park in N Attleboro for the photos and I just fell in love!  (Seriously, I am bringing my kids there later this week or next to do their photos!!)  And old ski lift/j-bar, old buildings, nice trees, some gorgeous park areas, benches, rocks, a waterfall – just so pretty.  And A. and S. were perfectly adorable.  Six months after their first session for me and it was like no time had passed.  I find that there are some clients I fall into a very easy rapport with – the C family definitely fits the bill.  It could be because our children are so close to each other in age, but it could just be that they are cool. 😉  And notice that this time, both mom and dad got into the pictures!  Aren’t they just a beautiful family??

Sometimes I get to throw everything out the window and do a shoot for a friend where I can truly relax, have fun and really do my thing.  I mean, I do this to an extent with regular clients, but when it’s a friend, it is a world of difference.  I met up with Dani and her hubby Steve on Sunday night to do some maternity pictures for their little munchkin.  Munchkin is due in five weeks and I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown!!  Dani and Steve had their engagement photos done at Sakonnet Vineyards in GORGEOUS Little Compton, RI, so it was wonderful to come full circle and do their maternity pictures here.  (Now if only I could figure out how to get the newborn shots done there, too! Hehehe)   Dani looks amazing for 35 weeks and I can’t wait to meet munchkin in a few short weeks!!  I keep going back and forth whether it’s a boy or a girl but I think I have settled on BOY.  🙂 My favorites.  A lot of my favorites…

Sigh. Perfection | Providence Newborn Photographer

I already gave away one sneak peek of this precious baby’s shoot but I wanted to do some more as well.  Doing a newborn session is (to me) one of the biggest perks of being a photographer.  We get to come into the homes of our clients right at one of the most special times of their lives.  We get to meet new babies often even before family and we get to hold these precious little tiny bundles of new life and photograph them at just a few days old. How can that not be THE coolest thing in the world??

Did you know that in terms of photography, the “newborn picture” period ends at right around two weeks?  Maybe three, but that is stretching it.  You never know what you are going to get when you go into a newborn session.  You could have a very fussy baby or a very relaxed baby. It could be a baby who doesn’t sleep a wink during the session or a baby who sleeps the entire time.  It’s a chance you take doing newborn photography which is why we want them to be SO young when we get them because, in general, they’re happy and sleeping the first 10 days (my absolute favorite is 5 days old).  Little Miss E is the perfect example of why we want this.  She slept almost the entire session.  She woke up twice and settled back into a nice deep sleep each time and let me position her however I wanted.  So besides being just SO deliciously adorable and beautiful that I wanted to take her home with me, she was just about the perfect baby in terms of what we hope for as photographers.

I loved pretty much every shot from this session so it was MORE than difficult to narrow it down for the sneak peek. But I managed.  Somehow. 🙂  Some of my favorites…

There is something about this next one that I just absolutely love. I cannot put my finger on it, but it just grabs my heart. Maybe it’s because my own daughter sleeps like this, I don’t know. Whatever it is, I’ll just sit back and enjoy it.

I got to photograph sweet, gorgeous, perfect Baby E this morning.  You may remember her mama’s maternity picture HERE.  Baby E arrived just a few weeks early and at 8 days old was absolutely perfect from head to toe.  (And a complete dream to work with!!)  She was so teeny in my hands, I found it impossible to believe that both of my children were ever possibly that small, even though they were both actually even smaller.  Mom had a particular request for a shot with angel wings and went out and bought some of her own when I told her I didn’t have any.  I know she was really looking forward to this shot so I couldn’t make her wait.  With the curtains and the lighting and the blanket and everything all together, it just looks, well, angelic.  🙂

More to come later, but for now just this one. I hope it is everything you imagined, M.

I’m not supposed to have favorites.  I know I’m not.  Really, I do know that.  But I just can’t help it.  My last three sessions have possibly been my favorites that I have ever, EVER done.  Two sessions ago it was my favorite Philly family on my last shoot there.  Last session was my ADORABLE maternity.  And today my new Providence family.  Possibly my favorite favorite, but again, I’m not supposed to have favorites.  But you can judge for yourselves.

I met up with Lynn and Jim and their GORGEOUS little girls, C. and G. this afternoon for the continuation of their photo session with my new lens.  Jim and  Lynn  own the fabulous Seven Stars Bakery here in Providence.  Since I am new, it’s new to me but is pretty well known to others in the area.  (In fact I’ve hear it’s very delicious so I am stopping in to buy some bread this week for our family vacation to the beach!) I was SO pleased that Lynn contacted me for photos of her family, especially since I am the new gal in town, the unknown!  I had an absolutely crazy fun time during their session.  We started with some photos down by the water at the beautiful Crescent Park in Riverside and then, after a quick outfit change, did some photos up in the park above the water.  There was a lot of being VERY silly, lots of funny noises, funny faces, lots and lots of moving around and LOTS of fun.  Gosh I love my job even if it does leave me a little more sore as I get older. 😉

I know Lynn already checked once for a sneak peek, so here you go!!  And I’m sharing a lot here.  Not because it’s my favorite.  No, not at all.  Because I can because, well, I own this blog. 🙂
