1.  I am working on totally revamping my pricing.  It feels so GOOD!!  Me, the person not crazy about change is L.O.V.I.N.G. it!!  And I am pretty sure you all are going to love it too.  Hope to have everything up by mid-week this week.  Might be next week though depending on how much the kiddos let me do.

2.  I have a really cool product in the works that I have not seen anyone else ANYWHERE make for their clients.  I designed it from scratch and am sending it off to the lab for printing as we speak.  Here’s hoping it works.  If so, I’ll be sure to share a sneak peek.  It ties in with the new pricing setup…  And if it doesn’t work, eh, nothing lost, right?

3.  A little known fact – did you know that holiday photos are best done between October and mid-November?  Yup.  It’s true. In fact my cutoff for holiday photos is the weekend after Thanksgiving. This gives me time to edit, get the orders in and everything delivered in time for various holidays.  So if you want photos for holiday gifts, don’t wait to do your sessions.  I plan to do two days of Holiday Minis and will have information about that up within the next week or two.  There may also just be a special or two for people to take advantage of.  😉

And Philadelphia peeps, I am also planning a weekend back in the area for holiday photos in late October / early November!!  Keep an eye out for announcements and emails.

4.  Nolan is turning 4 (!!!) one month from tomorrow.  I cannot believe it’s already been four years.   I have yet to put together invitations for his party (planning is not my thing) and wanted some pictures for it if possible.  He volunteered to go on a photo shoot with me on Sunday when we got home from brunch with friends.  Turns out his new school is basically right next to the Bay in Cranston and when I saw the water, the boats and the reeds I knew I wanted to do photos there.  He took the initiative though, asking if we could go.  Mostly he was his crazy silly almost-four-year-old self but I did get some decent ones.  Here are my favorites:

5.  I have been a Twittering FOOL recently. I have found a new love… If you’re on there I’d love to see you!  It is fantastic for networking and meeting new people.  LOVE it!

6.  Found (through Twitter, seriously people there are a BUNCH of great resources there) a fantastic blog – Savor The Thyme (savorthethyme.blogspot.c0m).  Jennifer highlights a bunch of healthy recipes (Shrimp with Watermelon and Pineapple Salsa, anyone?) and even has started sharing “vlogs” (video blog posts) with helpful things like how to pit an avocado (without taking your hand off).  I love having some healthy recipes to look at and enjoy reading her writing.  You should check her out!

7. We are planning a family trip to Austin, TX in October and I cannot WAIT!!  One of my all-time favorite photographers (and friend) lives there and we are going to get to hang out with her.  That and I’m excited for a first family trip as well and have heard wonderful things about Austin.  If you’ve been there I’d love any and all tips for what to see and do.

8.  Next month marks two years I have been in business.  I have a few fantastic goody giveaways planned to celebrate.  I love goodies!!!

9.  There is still time for you to vote for me in the My FOX Philly’s HOT List for Best Portrait Photographer.  You are allowed one vote per email address and the contest ends September 11.  You can vote HERE.  Just make sure to confirm your free account – that’s the only way your vote counts!

10.  You will all be happy to know that my 50mm lens came back from the repair shop in better than new condition!!  Big props to the guys at Midstate Camera Repair for such a quick and fantastic job!

That’s it for this week.  Stay tuned because I have a promotion to announce, holiday sessions to debut and a few other things 🙂

That is what my session Sunday morning was. I was all psyched up to do the session with the W. family but my lens, after an unfortunate accident with the hardwood floor the night before, decided to suddenly quit working right as we got started. I was able to grab this beauty (and isn’t she adorable?) while testing things out with my other lens but decided to call it a day to make sure that it was in fact the lens and not the camera itself. Thankfully, it was just the lens and an easy fix. In the meantime, for mom and dad, thanks again for understanding and here is a little something to tide you (and me!) over until our next meeting!!!

I had my last and final session in Philadelphia tonight. This session was originally supposed to happen three weeks ago or so but weather and hockey playoffs delayed us not once, not twice, not three times but four or five times. So finally tonight the D. family and I got together. It was very fitting though that K. and her family were my last session. I have been photographing K. since she was pregnant with little J.

I also did J.’s newborn session

And I also did a holiday session with the whole family. So it makes sense that I ended my time in Philadelphia with them as well. Photography is about capturing moments in your life forever. It’s what I love, it’s what I do. And to be able to do it over and over for a family is perhaps the coolest thing ever. This last session saw little J. a bit over a year old and taking his first steps – in fact tonight was the first time he was walking continuously! 🙂 K. decided she wanted a more urban feel and urban is exactly what she got. J. and D. were WONDERFUL to photograph as always. I can’t believe how easy this family is!! It also made sense that I ended with urban since I did spend the last four years of my life living in the city. I left these all in color for this sneak peek because, well, LOOK at the color in them!!! And there are more here because, well, I can do that 🙂

After only having one session at the Art Museum in 18 months, I did two in one day.  Sunday early evening I met D. and his family in the Art Museum area for some family photos.  We started on Boathouse Row and worked our way back down to the cliffs overlooking the Schuylkill.  The lighting and color was just beautiful which is why all of these sneak peeks are in color 🙂   We had a really fun time watching me make a fool of myself on Kelly Drive.  If you saw some chick dancing, singing at the top of her lungs and hopping that was me!  (Well, if she had a camera that was me, if not it was just one of the other fine Philly citizens.)  D. was a trooper through it all, which doesn’t often (ever) happen with almost-eighteen-month-olds.  Thanks for letting me join in your family afternoon, S. and O.  I hope you enjoy the photos!!

S. and N. met me at the Art Museum Sunday morning for some pictures of K.  As I said in yesterday’s post, three of the four families have either been using me since maternity, or since the child was a baby.  K. was one where we started off when he was just eight or so months old!  (In fact that first session I think we hung out drinking coffee and talking more than shooting!)  And now he is a running, jumping, laughing, adorable two year old.  This is my fourth session with the family and every time I swear he just gets cuter and cuter!!  We had a great time and did a LOT of walking.  I saw parts of the Art Museum area I didn’t know existed!  We played in fountains and wishing wells and sang songs and tickled.  Because of the early start we also basically had the museum to ourselves which allowed me to grab the first photo – and as you can see, the sky was SUCH a gorgeous blue for part of the shoot as well.

S. and N. thank you SO much for inviting me into your lives all of these times.  I have had a BLAST hanging out with you and watching K. grow with you.  I hope I have been able to capture him the way that you see him 🙂
