Morning with the girls | Providence Family Photographer

I spent an unbelievably warm incredible morning with the little misses M. and C. this past Saturday in Roger Williams Park.  These two beauties were a little over 18 months and SO cute!! They definitely gave me a run for my money – literally! I love this age because they just run and run and run. They want to explore SO many things but at the same time can almost be stopped in their tracks by a simple game of peekaboo, or finding an interesting trinket / handle etc to stare at.   We had a great time grunting at swans and running laps around the Casino porch and of course eating the requisite Cheerios!  (There is a reason I tell parents to bring snacks!!)  Thanks C. and C. for coming out in the heat and humidity and being such great sports through all of it 🙂  Enjoy!

For those of you not local, no worries, we did not take them gambling 😉 – it’s one of the GORGEOUS buildings in the park

Sigh. Perfection | Providence Newborn Photographer

I already gave away one sneak peek of this precious baby’s shoot but I wanted to do some more as well.  Doing a newborn session is (to me) one of the biggest perks of being a photographer.  We get to come into the homes of our clients right at one of the most special times of their lives.  We get to meet new babies often even before family and we get to hold these precious little tiny bundles of new life and photograph them at just a few days old. How can that not be THE coolest thing in the world??

Did you know that in terms of photography, the “newborn picture” period ends at right around two weeks?  Maybe three, but that is stretching it.  You never know what you are going to get when you go into a newborn session.  You could have a very fussy baby or a very relaxed baby. It could be a baby who doesn’t sleep a wink during the session or a baby who sleeps the entire time.  It’s a chance you take doing newborn photography which is why we want them to be SO young when we get them because, in general, they’re happy and sleeping the first 10 days (my absolute favorite is 5 days old).  Little Miss E is the perfect example of why we want this.  She slept almost the entire session.  She woke up twice and settled back into a nice deep sleep each time and let me position her however I wanted.  So besides being just SO deliciously adorable and beautiful that I wanted to take her home with me, she was just about the perfect baby in terms of what we hope for as photographers.

I loved pretty much every shot from this session so it was MORE than difficult to narrow it down for the sneak peek. But I managed.  Somehow. 🙂  Some of my favorites…

There is something about this next one that I just absolutely love. I cannot put my finger on it, but it just grabs my heart. Maybe it’s because my own daughter sleeps like this, I don’t know. Whatever it is, I’ll just sit back and enjoy it.

I’m not supposed to have favorites.  I know I’m not.  Really, I do know that.  But I just can’t help it.  My last three sessions have possibly been my favorites that I have ever, EVER done.  Two sessions ago it was my favorite Philly family on my last shoot there.  Last session was my ADORABLE maternity.  And today my new Providence family.  Possibly my favorite favorite, but again, I’m not supposed to have favorites.  But you can judge for yourselves.

I met up with Lynn and Jim and their GORGEOUS little girls, C. and G. this afternoon for the continuation of their photo session with my new lens.  Jim and  Lynn  own the fabulous Seven Stars Bakery here in Providence.  Since I am new, it’s new to me but is pretty well known to others in the area.  (In fact I’ve hear it’s very delicious so I am stopping in to buy some bread this week for our family vacation to the beach!) I was SO pleased that Lynn contacted me for photos of her family, especially since I am the new gal in town, the unknown!  I had an absolutely crazy fun time during their session.  We started with some photos down by the water at the beautiful Crescent Park in Riverside and then, after a quick outfit change, did some photos up in the park above the water.  There was a lot of being VERY silly, lots of funny noises, funny faces, lots and lots of moving around and LOTS of fun.  Gosh I love my job even if it does leave me a little more sore as I get older. 😉

I know Lynn already checked once for a sneak peek, so here you go!!  And I’m sharing a lot here.  Not because it’s my favorite.  No, not at all.  Because I can because, well, I own this blog. 🙂

That is what my session Sunday morning was. I was all psyched up to do the session with the W. family but my lens, after an unfortunate accident with the hardwood floor the night before, decided to suddenly quit working right as we got started. I was able to grab this beauty (and isn’t she adorable?) while testing things out with my other lens but decided to call it a day to make sure that it was in fact the lens and not the camera itself. Thankfully, it was just the lens and an easy fix. In the meantime, for mom and dad, thanks again for understanding and here is a little something to tide you (and me!) over until our next meeting!!!
