I have said it before but being a family photographer is, quite possibly, my favorite thing in the world.  It wasn’t what I grew up wanting to do.  I wanted to be Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs catching bad guys with the Behavioral Sciences Unit of the FBI.  Instead I began my work life teaching Spanish to high school students, and now I chase down toddlers in fields.  Totally the same thing haha.  But really, being a family photographer is amazing.  I get to hang out with families and kids in beautiful locations and make them hug and kiss and laugh and dance and photograph it all while it happens in front of me.

The L family is no exception.  I have photographed these cuties for a few years now and each year they have just been so natural and fun each and every time.  They’re the opposite of my family in that their oldest in a girl with two younger brothers and my oldest is a boy with two younger sisters, but I have so loved watching the dynamic between them.   There is so much love there between them all.

For this session we headed to a location that was new to me in Cumberland.  The Monastery is a gorgeous set of grounds right here in town that I had never previously explored.  Then it turned out there was acres and acres of land and trails and I was hooked!  Combine the trails with fall foliage and it was a match made in heaven.  We hiked in a bit stopping along the way for a few different looks – it was so nice to be able to have different settings all within a short walk.  And luckily little kids love to walk and run 😉
