Francesca | Rhode Island Newborn Photography

When I did this family’s first newborn session 19 months ago, I fell in love with them (and their bedroom).  They were so sweet and so loving and funny and laid back – I knew they would be amazing parents.

Beautiful Girls | Rhode Island Family Photography

I am actually playing catch up on here this week because this session happened a few weeks ago!!  This was one of the first families to take advantage of my Little Ro session – the mini version of my session that I offer returning clients.  We spent a great morning in their backyard a few weekends ago getting some updated photos of the girls.  (Unfortunately dad wasn’t feeling too hot that day so the family photos are coming a bit later this month.)  I had not seen the girls in over a year and I couldn’t believe how much bigger they were!  Oh, they grow so quickly…they are getting so big and so gorgeous.  Sigh.  Here is a year ago:

Little D | Rhode Island Family Photography

So I’m playing catch up again today!!  Way back in March or so I went out to take photos of little D and his family.  He was a bit under the weather so a few weeks ago I went out to do some new shots.   He was feeling MUCH better and full of spunk and energy 🙂  I adore this family and the fact that they have a gorgeous yard on the water with really cool pieces of art and things in it doesn’t hurt either.  😉

Clara | Rhode Island Newborn Photography

Sweet Clara was just eight days old when we did her newborn session last week.  When mom wrote to tell me she was expecting a baby girl, I was so excited!  I had done the newborn session for their little guy last year and now a little girl – perfection!  Clara, though, was determined to show her brother up by sleeping the entire time instead of being awake like he had done.  😉  I finished this session is pretty much record time, which is always nice (especially when you forget your camera battery in the charger, don’t have your extra one, and have to drive home and back not that that would EVER happen.  Uh-uh.)  We got so many beautiful images of just Clara (those cheeks and lips oh my!) and then a few family shots as well with big brother.  And of course I had to do one of just handsome mister C – look at those curls and eyes!  Congratulations, N family – she is the perfect little addition!!!Providence newborn baby girl in grey hat on a purple blanketBlack and white image of newborn handFamily shot with mom, newborn and sibling on bed, Massachusetts newborn photographyPortrait of big brother, Connecticut newborn photography

Lilia Noelle | Rhode Island Newborn Photography

When I was in Philly and shot Bernadette’s maternity session (seen HERE) a few weeks ago, I jokingly said that well, DUH of course I would do the newborn too.  Living several states away now, that is much more difficult than when we lived 30 minutes away from each other!  Fortunately, sweet little Lilia was a scheduled c-section which makes planning SO much easier, especially when it involves a six hour drive.  (And when it coincides with a trip to New York City that I am already scheduled for the day before, it’s perfection.)  I wrote to Bernadette three days before the session and told her I wanted more lifestyle with their session and less beanbag posing.  That is the wonderful thing about working with a friend.  You can tell them what you want to do.  😉  And when that friend is a photographer it’s even easier because usually they will agree wholeheartedly.  Which she did.  Which made my heart happy.  So this is a no-beanbag session.  I did everything naturally in their house with no setup used and got some of my favorite images ever from this session. Bernadette and Adrian are so in love with their little girl, and can we just talk about big brother for a minute???  I mean, SERIOUSLY.  Evan is so so in love with his little sister.  He just sits there and stares at her and touches and smiles and kisses her.  And his favorite thing about her?  “I like the way she smells”  ::melt::

 Ideally, what you see right here, THIS is what I want to do.  This is how I want to shoot ALL of my newborns.  Capturing those first days in a client’s house, that is awesome.  There is really absolutely nothing like it in the world.   We spent a few hours in the house just getting photos of them being them with their new littlest love.  No complicated posing, no beanbags, no blankets and clamps.
